Ridgetop-to-Ridgetop: Learning from the Sheep Creek Restoration Effort

Tune in on Monday, May 18 at 11 a.m. Mountain Time to kick off our Healthy Rivers for Wildfire Resilience webinar series

 

During this session, you will learn about the innovative “ridgetop-to-ridgetop” approach to watershed restoration on Sheep Creek, a tributary to the Grande Ronde River in Northeast Oregon. We will discuss practical strategies that combine aquatic habitat restoration (including floodplain reconnection, large wood placement, and beaver dam analogs) with active forest management and fuels reduction. These efforts build long-term resilience against .while benefiting native salmon, steelhead, bull trout, and other species. Webinar speakers will focus on (a) how the project was developed and designed, (b) key nuts and bolts that led to successful implementation, and (c) lessons learned along the way that we hope may be useful to use in the future.

This webinar series is part of Healthy Rivers for Wildfire Resilience, a new community of practice designed to connect practitioners, managers, and partners working at the intersection of healthy rivers and wildfire resilience. It provides a collaborative space to share lessons learned, innovative restoration techniques, policy insights, and on-the-ground successes in fire-prone landscapes across the West.
