Dan's bio:
Like many anglers, I started out as a kid fishing rubber worms for bass. Eventually I moved into bass tournaments, but that scene quickly lost its appeal. Before long I found my way to saltwater fishing—and soon after that, fly fishing. In fact, I spent years chasing fish in the salt with a fly rod before I ever made a cast in freshwater.
Today I continue to travel in search of the next adventure. I live in Clinton, Massachusetts and fish my local waters, but I’ve been to all 50 states and have fished in most of them. I can hold a conversation about just about every major trout stream in the United States. Along the way I’ve also had the opportunity to fish in England and as far away as Eastern Europe. In recent years I’ve been spending my summers in the Canadian Maritimes chasing striped bass.
I’ve presented at shows and clubs across the country, including The Fly Fishing Show in Marlborough, Massachusetts and Edison, New Jersey. I also spent five years working at The Montana Angler fly shop in Bozeman, Montana.
I’m a 100% do-it-yourself angler. I’ve never hired a guide and thrive on figuring things out for myself. Just as much as the fishing, I enjoy the characters—the fishermen and fellow oddballs—I meet along the way.
Somewhere along the line, I guess I evolved into a first-class fish bum.
