The fall striped bass run is in full swing! Get in on the action Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 PM. The tides are great and the striped bass have returned to their local haunts on their southward migration. This trip is an excellent opportunity to anyone who wants to learn more about this amazing local fishery and how and when to fish for striped bass from more experienced saltwater anglers.
We'll meet around 1 PM at Veterans Park to rig up and walk down to the reef. If you are familiar with this spot, feel free to try and find parking closer to the beach along Reef Road and we'll see you out there!
For striper fishing, we typically run 8 or 9wt fly rods with intermediate sinking line. If you've got a floating line, no worries - that will get the job done! The only flies you really need are clouser minnows and deceivers in the colors chartreuse and white. If you're new to saltwater fishing and don't have a rod, just reach out and we'd be more than happy to provide one for you to borrow!
If you'd like to throw a spin/surf rod, feel free! We want you to experience this amazing fishery in any way you'd like. Plus, a spin rod makes a terrific backup in case of any wind. For spin gear, an assortment of plugs, bucktails, and swimbaits will have you covered.
Chapter trips are free and open to the public. Members and guests are welcome and everyone is encouraged to bring friends, family, kids and new fishing buddies.
