The installation of the structures for the Cross Road Habitat Improvement Project was completed on July 18th; however, we still have 50 trees to plant. Planting has been postponed until early October when we hopefully have cooler, wetter weather more favorable for tree growth.
Accordingly, we are scheduling a work party to plant the trees on Saturday October 8th. We will meet/start at 9:00 AM at the end of Cross Road (42.425772, -77.437415 see map). Bring long handled shovels, work gloves, pliers, and wire cutters. A couple of weed whackers would also be helpful. Please note that there is a lot of long grass where you will be working, so long sleeves, long pants, a hat and bug spray are a good idea as tick prevention measures.
After the tree planting in the morning, we will have an Oktoberfest Tailgate picnic for all the volunteers.
Please let us know if you can help by emailing Info@CanandaiguaLakeTU.org
