One-day, easy-to-understand overview of fly-fishing open to boys and girls 11 years and older.

Taught by adult members of Oak Brook Trout Unlimited, including scouting certified merit badge counselors.

Covers:

• Understanding fly tackle: rods, lines, leaders and flies

• Basic fly-fishing knots

• Fly tying – two types of flies

• Outdoor safety practices and first aid

• Outdoor ethics, care of the resources, and the Mission of Trout Unlimited

• Fly casting – overhead and roll cast

• FISHING – practicing catch and release

No cost to participants. All fly-fishing equipment and fly-tying materials are provided.
