Volunteers Needed!

Help us construct a conifer revetment on the Norwalk River to help restore habitat and reverse the harmful effects of erosion!

Each year after the holiday's, Trout Unlimited holds an annual "Trees for Trout" drive to collect discarded Christmas Trees for use in habitat restoration projects all summer long.

Anchored in place in areas of excess erosion, the trees slow down the current, trap sediment and debris, and slowly help rebuild the streambank overtime. This process helps keep our rivers narrow, increase the velocity of the water, and help keep our rivers cold and deep for wild trout!

Join us at the School Road side parking lot of Cider Mill School at 10 am and we'll head down to the river! We'll provide all the tools and materials you need. We'll be working in the river - so bring a pair of boots, waders, or sturdy footwear and prepare to get wet! If you need to borrow some gear, let us know - we've got some boots and hip waders you can borrow.
