Join Mianus TU at 10 am on Saturday, September 17th to build trout habitat on the Norwalk River at Schenck's Island Park! We're helping Shawn Gregory, Wilton High School student and prospective Eagle Scout candidate complete a conifer revetment project to help prevent erosion.

Conifer revetment projects do a fantastic job of helping restore the banks of a river from erosion. Each year, the Mianus Chapter holds a Trees for Trout drive to collect and 'eco-cycle' old Christmas Trees for use in habitat restoration projects. Volunteers can help drive anchors and secure trees into the river banks. Over time, the conifers help slow down the current, trap sediment and debris, and slowly rebuild the banks.

Waders are optional, but be sure to have a sturdy pair of boots, water shoes, or sandals! let us know if you need proper footwear - we've got pairs of hip boots and wet wading boots available for you to borrow!

Please consider making a donation to Shawn's fundraiser to help cover costs with his Eagle Scout project!
