Details

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Upper Green River Chapter of TU are excited to announce a spring conservation volunteer day on April 18, 2026. This year we are teaming up to complete both terrestrial and aquatic work within the New Fork River corridor that will help migrating wildlife and improve fish habitat and riparian areas along the river corridor. We are looking for folks that would be interested in fence removal/modification, willow planting, or just being outside and learning about what we are doing to better conditions for your wildlife.

Biologists with Game and Fish have identified over a mile and a half of fencing to convert or remove in proximity of the identified Sublette Pronghorn Migration Corridor to help those animals on their annual migration (the work overlaps important moose and mule deer ranges as well). In addition, work will seek to increase riparian health at the New Fork Gas Wells by planting willows on the newly completed habitat restoration that occurred on site in late 2025. If you are interested in seeing this work and learning more about river restoration, be sure to join.

No cost to attend, register by clicking the "tickets" link to help with the headcount and lunch needs.

Who: Anyone interested in helping our fish and wildlife

Where/When: Meet at the Game and Fish office at 9:00 or at the New Fork Gas Wells boat ramp at 9:30. We expect the work to last until at least early afternoon, but can extend as long as folks are willing.

What to bring: Gloves, fencing pliers, waders, sunscreen, and water. Some work will involve the water, and others will be primarily land based. Tailor your gear to your interests. Additional gear will be available through WGFD

Lunch/Snacks: Lunch and snacks will be provided to participants, so please indicate if you plan to attend (last minute arrivals are welcome as well). Likewise, please feel free to share this with other folks that might be interested in helping out. The more folks we can get excited about this effort, the bigger impact we can have for our wildlife.

For more details, reach out to Devin Gearhart (307-823-2181) or Luke Schultz (307-367-5633). We hope to see you there!
