Austin Williams is the Conservation Supervisor for Greenville Water’s Conservation Team, where he helps lead stewardship and restoration efforts across more than 30,000 acres of protected source water lands in the southern Blue Ridge. His work focuses on forest and fuels management, aquatic resource conservation, and applied ecological monitoring. Austin previously worked seasonally with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Washington State and holds a B.S. in Biology.
Presentation Topic:
Austin will provide an overview of ongoing fisheries and watershed restoration initiatives within the Greenville watersheds, with a focus on Southern Appalachian brook trout restoration efforts, smallmouth bass fisheries management, and restoration work along the North Saluda River below the dam. The presentation will cover current monitoring and habitat assessment work, wildfire and watershed recovery impacts, hatchery and propagation efforts, and other potential opportunities for future collaboration in conserving coldwater fisheries and aquatic ecosystems in the Upstate.
