Our guest speaker for our September meeting is Alan Caolo. Alan will present his program: Cape Breton Island is a spectacular place to fish. The program is comprehensive, covering travel, accommodations, and fly fishing for brook trout, brown trout, striped bass and, of course, Atlantic salmon, which is the highlight of the show.
Alan is a veteran saltwater angler who’s pursued nearly every mainstream inshore and offshore marine game fish. He’s been saltwater fly fishing for over 30 years, but he enjoys freshwater fishing quite a lot, too. Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Alan quickly gravitated to fly fishing where he pursued trout, bass and panfish in the rivers, streams and ponds of the Berkshire foothills. He is a two-time graduate of the University of Rhode Island and he has authored two books on fly fishing – Fly Fisherman’s Guide to Atlantic Baitfish and Sight-Fishing for Striped Bass (both Frank Amato Publications). He resides on the Rhode Island coast.
Please join us at our meeting season kickoff on September 14th at the Quinnipiac River Watershed Association building, 540 Oregon Road in Meriden. We will have a very informative presentation and some good fellowship! Food at 6:30, a short business meeting, program updates, and raffle precedes speaker.
