We meet on the second Wednesday of the month to discuss current fishing conditions and our success as well as listen to a presentation on conservation, freshwater or saltwater fishing. Out meeting are open to all, so if you want to learn about EJTU, come to a meeting, tell the greeter you are not yet a member and talk with members about fishing and the Chapter.
This month Capt. Zach Flake will talk about "In-shore Fisheries in NJ". Primarily he will discuss striper fishing in the Hackensack watershed and Barnegat Bay. He guides 3 days a week in the NE striper season so he has lots of experience on these waters and is happy to share what he has learned. He will discuss the ecology, flies, leaders, techniques and general locations, but no spot burning.
Most of us know Barnegat Bay is a very good striper fishery, but few realize the Hackensack River also is a very good striper fishery. Striper winter over in the Hackensack, so the fishing starts early in the season, as early as mid-March. Stripers leave when water temperatures get too high but return in the Fall.
