Monthly Chapter Meeting

Our meeting will be held on Thursday, May 14th. Our speaker will be Dennis Baxter, retired Manager Biological & Water Resources, Senior Aquatic Zoologist for TVA. Dennis is a long time member of our Chapter and leads our Aquatic Insect Survey project. This is our third year for conducting bug surveys on the Clinch at (4) four locations below Norris Dam. Dennis will be reviewing some of the data that we have collected.

The Clinch will see many different generation schedules and water levels on a daily basis. We were interested in how these changes might impact the aquatic insects life cycles. Trout depend on these insects for food and the insects can tell us a great deal about the water quality, many of these insects are very sensitive to poor water quality. Our data can be useful to the fishermen in knowing what fly pattern to fish, not only when but where. The public is invited and you do not have to be a member of our Chapter to attend.
