Thanks to an anonymous supporter, the Mianus Chapter has purchased a GripHoist - a heavy duty version of a hand winch - that allows us to move larger rocks and other materials with ease with just a few volunteers!
This equipment will allow us to tear down small dams, move boulders into position for habitat or drag fallen trees to the stream edge for stabilization and structure. Even better, it can be carried in by a few volunteers to locations where excavators and heavy equipment just can't reach!
Swing by Tuesday, April 26 from 9:30 a.m. on as we use the GripHoist to haul old dam debris out of the Mianus River at Newman Mills Park in Stamford. You can stop by to watch, or step forward to be trained to help us on future projects!
