Member Meeting - Silver Creek Restoration with Nature Conservancy
Details
The world class trout fishery of Silver Creek continues to have a high reputation because the Nature Conservancy (TNC) has invested its time, treasure and expertise to extend the habitat beyond its original 480 Silver Creek Preserve which dates from 1976. In recent years TNC invested in habitat improvement along Stalker Creek and Lower Chaney Creek, two of the important tributaries to Silver Creek. How have these efforts worked for the fishery so far? Are there other projects and plans for the future? Anglers who visit the Wood River Valley area will definitely want to attend our upcoming meeting to learn more.
We are pleased to have Erika Green Phillips, TNC’s Director of Stewardship and conservation ecologist, present at our October 8th chapter meeting at Smoky Mountain Pizza on Parkcenter Blvd.. Erika has been with TNC for more than six years, based in Hailey, and also spent much of last decade with the Sawtooth National Forest as an aquatic ecologist in the area.
