Mad River Gala and Annual Meeting

Join us for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship as we come together to support the Mad River!

Don’t let the name fool you—this is not a formal affair. The “meeting” portion will be brief, with the main focus on celebrating our community and love for the river.

Event Highlights:

• 4:00 Doors Open/Social Hour: Enjoy a cash bar, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and explore tables featuring fly fishing organizations we support. Fly fishing videos will play throughout the evening.

• 5:30 Dinner: A buffet-style feast to kick off the night.

• 6:30 Business Meeting/TU Update: A short meeting to discuss chapter updates.

• 7:00 Main Presentation: A special feature you won’t want to miss— Dave Zielenski. FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS, DAVE ZIELINSKI HAS BEEN TRACKING DOWN periodical cicada emergences in an effort to figure out their mystery and the fish that hunt and devour them.

Dave’s book CICADA MADNESS: Timing, Fishing Techniques, and Patterns for Cracking the Code of Epic Cicada Emergences is the culmination of his experiences and is currently the only dedicated resource for fly fishing and cicadas.

Dave resides in rural western Pennsylvania with his wife, three daughters, and two German shorthaired pointers where he spends his spring and summer chasing fish and chasing birds over dogs in the fall. He also is also the owner and operator of Down Home Boat Works, where he designs and builds custom wooden drift boats for fly fishing and river running. Dave has been
featured on several podcasts, in film and written articles surrounding cicadas, river running, boats and fly fishing. He will regale us with his cicada expertise as we get ready for the emergence that will be happening this year in southeast Ohio.
