Little River Streamside Cleanup
Join us at the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area at 8:30 am Saturday, October 5, 2024 to clean up trash along Little River in the GSMNP. We will be cleaning up along Tremont Road and/or Elkmont Road (not along River Road). We will provide grabbers, trash bags, and gloves. Following the cleanup, there will be a picnic lunch of burgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks. Feel free to bring a dessert or side dish to share, and folding chair(s) for your use. This will be a family event.
TVA is a financial sponsor for LRCTU stream side cleanups again this year.
Typical hiking attire is recommended (along with rainwear if weather conditions warrant). Wading will not be necessary. Bug spray may also be needed. Safety will be a prime consideration as we coordinate with the Fisheries Staff to select specific clean-up locations.
GSMNP Fisheries Volunteer Forms 2024 and LRCTU Liability Waivers will be available at the picnic area for completion prior to the work (for those that have not completed them previously.
Please notify Bernie Maloy at 52bazzman@gmail.com with expected number of participants by October 2, 2024 so that we can plan appropriately for supplies, food and group transportation to and from the clean-up sites.
Please check the LRCTU website for any last minute announcements.
