We will be kayak fishing for striped bass in the Hackensack River. Fly or spin fishing gear can be used. Fish will most likely be on/near the bottom, so that’s how we will target them. We checked the tides, and this is an optimal time to fish from a kayak. Unfortunately, there are very few places to fish from shore. We will fish near bridges and structure where available. For flyrodders, clousers, deceivers and baitfish patterns should work. For spin/baitcasters, 4-6” swimbaits and bucktails with/without curly tails are recommended. Remember, the water still is cold. You must wear a PFD. Dress appropriately. This trip is weather dependent. When you get your ticket, be sure to provide you email so you can be contacted if the event must be canceled. Remember the Hackensack River is tidal, and in some places the current can be very strong. You should remain in sight of other kayakers.
