In June 2023, the headwaters of the Saddle River, in Upper Saddle River, Bergen County--managed as a Wild Brown Trout Enhancement Stream--were surveyed to assess the status of the wild Brown Trout population and stream habitat conditions. Two 150-meter reaches were electrofished. They captured 89 Brown Trout, including 57 young-of-the-year, reflecting strong natural reproduction. Despite the good reproduction the habitat was rated Sub-Optimal.
A river clean-up is one of the actions needed to improve the river's habitat.
Join us as we clean-up a portion of the river.
Bring your waders or boots, rain jacket, work gloves and be prepared to join friends and meet new friends. We will supply the trash bags.
After we will go to the Ramsey Outdoor Fly Fest.
