Introduction to Fly Tying

San Luis Valley Trout Unlimited is hosting an introductory fly tying class for anyone interested in learning the basics of the craft.

The class will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Alamosa on May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This hands-on session will cover essential tools, common materials, and foundational techniques used to tie flies for trout fishing. Participants will work step-by-step through several simple, proven patterns while learning proper setup, thread control, and finishing methods.

No prior experience is needed. All tools and materials will be provided.

Our goal is to offer a comfortable, practical introduction to fly tying and help participants build the confidence to continue tying on their own.

Lunch will be provided.
