Details
The Cataloochee Chapter of Trout Unlimited in conjunction with the Waynesville Parks & Recreation Department will present Introduction to Fly Fishing classes in late March 2026. Classes are limited to 15 students and cost $20: free to members of Trout Unlimited (any chapter).
- On March 19th, Session 1 will cover with What is Fly Fishing, essential equipment, other necessities, and flies and their use.
- On March 24th, Session 2 students will learn knot tying, casting techniques and practice fly casting.
- On March 26th, Session 3 will describe trout characteristics and reading the water to find trout.
Registration is required and open at the Waynesville Recreation Center, 550 Vance Avenue Waynesville, NC. Class size is limited to 15 students. A minimum of 5 students must be registered by March 16th to conduct the class. Students must register for all three sessions.
Classes are open to all ages although it is requested that those under 18 come with an adult sponsor who has also enrolled.
Students are encouraged to bring their own fly fishing gear to any session.
All required equipment (rods, reels, practice flies) will be provided.
