In Stream Fish Survey Demo - Hatchery Park/ Johnson Creek
Johnson Creek is home to a wide variety of fish. We’ve mentioned brown trout, and the endangered red sided dace. There are many more. And, if you go further throughout the Rouge watershed, the number of species is surprising.
Friends of the Rouge have been monitoring fish populations in the watershed for many years. Their surveys create a data series usable for conservation and funding purposes. But what all is involved in an actual fish survey?
Come and find out! Learn the what and the why from the staff at Friends of the Rouge on Thursday evening September 11th, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Hatchery Park in Northville.
We’re kicking off the series of learning opportunities that the restoration of Johnson Creek will provide over the next several years. In a great way. A river is complex, even one as seemingly modest like Johnson Creek. But the more you learn, the better you will be at “reading a river” wherever you go fishing.
We at Paul H Young view learning about fishing as a primary benefit to you. The more you know, the better you will be. There is no cost for this demonstration and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
Mark your calendar now! Bring your kids! Bring a friend – they do not have to be a member. Make a Tuesday night of it in Northville afterwards!
