Climate change and precipitation patterns are having a drastic impact on coldwater rivers and streams – with perhaps no more pressing issue than the need to protect coldwater refugia in the face of more frequent droughts, extreme precipitation events, high average temperatures. For TU and our partners, technology is helping lead initiatives to identify, protect, and reconnect these critical areas, including the use of drones mounted with infrared cameras. Join Sal DeCarli and Mark Dhruv of EA Engineering, a CX3 sponsor, to learn how this international engineering, science and technology firm is helping TU chapters and other nonprofits and agencies use thermal mapping and drone technology to map miles of streams to quickly and easily identify the cold groundwater influences, helping prioritize habitat restoration projects and sustain entire populations of wild native trout.
