The Sig and Relay Creek culverts are in and functioning properly allowing fish and other aquatic organisms to pass upstream. Now, the USFS needs our help to plant willows along the disturbed land to help reclaim it after the disturbance.
Either carpool from town with other volunteers or meet at the work site at Sig Creek down Hermosa Park Road at 9am on Friday, 10/4. Bring work gloves, water, and snacks. We'll provide lunch to all volunteers, so sign up early to ensure we have enough food for everyone.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE: Purgatory is providing a free shuttle from their Upper Columbine Lot to the event site, leaving at 8:30 sharp on Friday. It will return to pick up volunteers after the event. If volunteers who would like to take the shuttle, please let Eric at Durango Trails (eric@durangotrails.org) know by 9 am Thursday how many to expect, so that Purg can utilize the appropriately-sized vehicle. The event site is a large dispersed camping area on the left side of Hermosa Park Rd, which is .4 miles past the Sign Creek Campground turnoff.
