Fly fishers and anyone that appreciates local river ecosystems will enjoy this special presentation of the Baetis mayfly (also known as the blue-winged olive to anglers) hatches in the upper Arkansas River. This event is hosted by your local chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU), and free and open to the public. The presentation will summarize the results of recent mayfly surveys and provide insights into the resurgence of the Baetis mayfly hatches that now occur every month of the year on the Arkansas River.
Our guest speaker, Ken Iwamasa, is a noted fly-fishing author, originator of more than twenty-five fly patterns and has published many articles in Fly Fisherman and Fly Tyer Magazines. He is the author of the book “Iwamasa Flies” with Introduction by Dave Whitlock; contributor to the books “Stoneflies” by Swisher and Richards, “Trout, Mayfly and the Angler" by Fred Arbona Jr. and “Fly Tyer's Almanac” by Dave Whitlock. Mr. Iwamasa also appears in books written by authors such as John Gierach, Ted Rosenbauer, John Randolph, and many others.
Please join us at the large meeting at the library. Presentation starts at 6PM sharp.
