Going Wild!
You are invited to participate in an inspiring day that gets kids and families connected to nature. Using Barber Pool Conservation Area and Wildlife Preserve as the outdoor learning lab, we are collaborating with educators and partners to set up their own special activity or booth. This special 700-acre preserve has the Boise River running through it, and is home to over 300 species of native plants and wildlife. The goal of the event is to teach children and their families the importance of this rare urban ecosystem, and how they can help to protect and preserve it for future generations to come.
This outdoor experiential learning event is chocked-full of activities, exhibits, games, prizes, nature tours and more. Bring your entire family!

Located in Southeast Boise, the Barber Pool Conservation Area is a wildlife refuge teeming with over 300 native species of plants and wildlife. Spanning over 700 acres between the Highway 21 bridge and the Harris Ranch subdivision, this area is painted with rich riparian habitat that fosters a huge amount of life. The Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands, together with community partners and local residents have created a master plan to restore and steward the preserve so that it may thrive for generations to come.
In addition to the Idaho Foundation for Parks and Lands, the largest landowner at 425 acres, there are several entities that own parcels within the conservation area, including Ted Trueblood Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Ada County Parks & Waterways, BSU’s Intermountain Bird Observatory and the Diane Moore Nature Center, the City of Boise,Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Bureau of Land Management, Micron, Veolia Water, and Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation. Together, we have worked tirelessly for decades to protect this environmental treasure for future generations.
