Greater Boston Trout Unlimited Teen Fly Fishing Wade Trip

This fall, Greater Boston Trout Unlimited will be hosting a free one-day fly fishing wade trip for teens ages 14–18. The trip will take place on a nearby river (location to be announced based on stream flows and fall trout stockings).

The outing is beginner/intermediate-focused but open to all skill levels, making it a great opportunity for those brand new to fly fishing as well as young anglers looking to sharpen their skills. Participants will receive basic fly casting instruction and review wading safety, while also spending time on the river practicing their fishing technique. The day will be led by experienced TU volunteers who are passionate about sharing the fun and tradition of fly fishing. All necessary gear can be provided for those who need it. Orvis Wellesley has graciously volunteered to supply free flies and leaders.

Spots are limited, and advance registration is required. This is a unique chance to get on the water, meet other teens who enjoy the outdoors, and experience the excitement of chasing trout on the fly. Transportation to/from the river will be the responsibility of participants.

When registering there will be a questionnaire and please provide the following information:

Teen’s full name and age (14–18)
Parent/guardian name and contact information (phone + email)
Any fly fishing or outdoor experience (beginner is welcome!)
Whether gear is needed (rod, reel, waders) or if the participant will bring their own
Any medical concerns, allergies, or other information we should know about

*A parent/guardian must this complete registration if participant is under 18years old. Full trip details, including meeting time and location will be sent once the river conditions are confirmed. River flows, water temperatures, and MA trout stockings are all factors that will influence where we fish.
