GBTU September Chapter Gathering with Guest Speaker Steve Heinz
Details
Join GBTU members and supporters at Concord Outfitters on Monday, for our Chapter Gathering on Monday, September 28th. Our guest speaker will be Steve Heinz who will talk about the West Branch of the Penobscot, one of the most important cold water rivers in New England, what’s at stake in Maine’s largest hydro power relicensing and what you can do to help.
Steve Heinz is FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) Coordinator for the The Maine Council of Trout Unlimited and a retired U.S. Navy Commander. For the past seven years he’s been working with volunteers, scientists, and partner organizations across Maine to improve how our rivers are managed, especially where dams affect coldwater fisheries. Most of his recent effort has focused on the West Branch Penobscot, organizing fieldwork, angler surveys, and outreach so decisions about the river are based on real-world experience as well as science.
