Hello Fisheries Volunteers,
I hope your holidays were merry and that you and yours are well.
The GRSM fisheries department is offering an informative and educational workshop on Saturday, February 22 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Old Oconaluftee Visitor Center near Cherokee, NC. The Workshop is open to any interested folks at no charge.
Among the many topics the workshop will cover, using slide presentations and handouts, are:
~ Hurricane Helene;
~ Aquatic Organism Passageways:
~ Collecting Water Samples;
~ Brook Trout Restoration;
~ Fish Population Monitoring;
~ Volunteer parking tags;
~ 2025 schedule of activities.
You will be credited with three volunteer hours, plus your roundtrip drive time from home. Coffee, drinks and light breakfast items will be provided. Bring your fishing gear for after the meeting.
Whether you have volunteered before, want to become a volunteer or just want to learn what the Park is doing for the streams, I highly recommend and encourage you to attend this jam-packed program.
