Spring is one of the best times to fish the Coldwater River - the temps are warming up, bugs like hendricksons and blue wing olives are hatching, and the scenery will be turning green. Join friends, supporters and fellow anglers from Schrems West Michigan Trout Unlimited for a spring fly fishing trip to the Coldwater River!

What better way to enjoy our local watersheds and make new fishing buddies than going fly fishing? No matter your skill level, join SWMTU for a laid-back day on the water followed by a social outing at a local restaurant.

We will have mentors available to help beginner anglers with the basics, including casting techniques, fly selection, knot tying, reading the water, and wading safety. These events are kid-friendly but we recommend ages 8+ for the best experience.

Event Time: 5:00 - 8:00pm
Location: Coldwater River, Dolan Nature Sanctuary? (Exact location TBA closer to event)
Fish species: Trout (and creek chub if you're really talented!)
Dinner and drinks: Nighthawk Food & Spirits, 6950 Whitneyville Ave SE, Alto, MI 49302 starting around 8:00pm

What to bring: Final instructions will be sent to registered participants. Please be sure to bring your gear, we have loaners too, a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Gear tips: We recommend bringing a 3wt, 4wt, or 5wt. Waders recommended.

NOTE: If you need to borrow a fly rod and reel, no problem - just let us know! Our passionate and skilled volunteers will be more than happy to lend a hand helping you learn where to go on the river and work on your casting and fishing skills.
