**** This Social we welcome Drew Ransom, a Fisheries Biologist for the Coldwater Program with the DEEP here in CT.
Drew is a CT native who started his fisheries career working with UConn and as a seasonal with CT DEEP. He holds a BS in Natural Resources from UConn and an MS in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He has gained experience working in multiple states and eco-regions throughout his career (Intermountain West and Great Lakes). Before starting his current position as a Coldwater Fisheries Biologist with DEEP he held a Fisheries Research Biologist position working with Bull Trout and Westslope Cutthroat Trout in Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho.
Drew is an enthusiastic and unsuccessful angler, and has enjoyed getting to fish in the salt again after moving back to Connecticut. But, he does miss fishing for hungry cutthroat and feels the browns on the Farmington are entirely too hard to catch. *****
Welcome Welcome to the Northwest CT Trout Unlimited open Socials!

I'm Andy your Program director and host, and would like to invite you to join our new leadership and meet your fellow members as we work towards my core beliefs for this club, which are:
- Education
- Socialization
- Participation
Our goal is to build a fun, social community of fellow enthusiasts, where we can enjoy one or more of those beliefs each month, all year round. Fly fishing itself is a very personal, mostly solo practice, yet is full of experiences. There's always more to learn, you'll never win, and there's many a fish tale to share. Who's spent hours chatting with your favorite local fly shop rep this week already?
Our friends at the Little Red Barn Brewing have welcomed us in their amazing non-cramped space in Winsted, right on the Mad River. We'll be providing hors d'oeuvres and will have a discounted menu for members, but doors open to everyone. The Royal Coachman Tavern in Riverton now runs the kitchen at LRB with an amazing menu, and they cater well to non-alcoholic beverage options as well so everyone can have equal fun socializing.
At upcoming events, we plan to have something to offer those core beliefs, whether it's a guest speaker to share the latest buzz or local conservation efforts, a fly tie where everyone learns to tie the hottest fly of the season, technique discussion, or maybe a trip report from someone's latest adventure. Much in the works!!
To help support us, we will always have a fundraising raffle table with great prizes, and those prizes will get bigger and bigger as our socials grow, so let's make that happen! We've already got some great items on hand: Guided Trips, Fly Boxes and Gear, so come by and consider participating generously!
So come by, bring a friend, meet a new friend, share this link, and let's relax and have some fun!
