If you ever wanted to learn about the excellent and easily accessible saltwater fly fishing opportunities in Fairfield County, here's your chance! This week, join friends from Mianus TU at Penfield Reef in Fairfield for an evening of striper fishing! Fishing Friday's are fun, casual fishing trips designed for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Whether your an expert looking to up your game and gain some great local knowledge or a beginner looking for help getting started, these trips are for you! If you need gear, don't hesitate to ask! We have several 9wt outfits you can borrow.
Penfield Reef is an awesome local striper spot but can be intimidating to the beginner angler or those unfamiliar with the conditions. Come learn the right times and tides to get the most out of the reef and most importantly - fish it safely! Mid May is just about the peak of our spring striper fishing season. 8 or 9 wt fly rods with an intermediate line is your best bet! Floating line works just fine too, just lengthen up the leader and fish something heavy. Feel free to bring a spin/surf rod if you'd like, it can come in handy if there is wind! Clousers and deceivers in white, chartruese, and black is all you need to get started!
Because parking along Reef Road can be tricky with a group, we'll meet at Veterans Park on Reef Road at 5:00 PM and walk down to the beach!
