Fishing Friday: Housatonic River

Join us this week at Housatonic Meadows State Park Picnic Area for an afternoon/evening of fishing the Housatonic River. Fishing Friday's are fun, casual events designed to get you out on the water! These trips are perfect for anglers of all ages and skill levels! If you need to borrow a fly rod, just let us know! We have several outfits for you to borrow as well as plenty of volunteers to show you a thing or two!

The Housatonic River is a gorgeous freestone river home to prolific hatches and robust populations of trout as well as smallmouth bass. Join in on the fun! We'll meet around 3 pm at the Housatonic Meadows State Park (not the campground) just past the gas station and Church on RT 7 going north. If you want to get up there earlier and make a day out of it, feel free! 

This time of year expect to see some caddis, sulphurs and cahills on top, and don't be afraid to throw some streamers for big trout and smallies! If you've never fished for smallmouth bass, its a blast!
