February chapter Meeting & Presentation- "Winter Fly Fishing"

Please join us at our next Ted Trueblood Chapter of Trout Unlimited presentation.  At our February meeting, Ed Northen will share his knowledge and expertise on Winter Fly Fishing.
 
When the snow falls and the temperatures drop, most people give their fly fishing gear a rest, to enjoy the other pursuits of winter. Yet for some people, winter is the most enjoyable time to fish in the Wood River Valley. Ed Northen will present a program of how to fly fish in the winter. The program presentation will include, gear and clothing needed, techniques and flies to use, waters availableto fish and most important how to do so safely. Even if you choose not to fish in the winter there is information in the presentation which is applicable to fishing at other times of the year. Ed fishes in the winter because in the winter he finds, solitude, beauty, and challenging fishing, which for him, are trifecta of fly fishing.

Ed Northen is a Retired Fire Captain /Paramedic who worked in the field for the 34 years. He has lived in Hailey, Idaho for 21 years, where he pursues his passions of environmental stewardship, fly fishing, hiking, trail running, cross country skiing and poetry. Ed worked 15 years, as a fly fishing guide for Silver Creek Outfitters and is the past president of Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
