Fishing is fun for the whole family! Join us on Saturday, September 11th at Penfield Reef in Fairfield for some family friendly fishing action! In the late summer, young of the year bluefish called "snappers" come inshore and are absolutely voracious! These feisty fish are plentiful and the perfect quarry for kids or beginner anglers alike.
We'll meet at Veteran's Park at 909 Reef Road in Fairfield at 2 PM. If you need to borrow a rod, no problem - just let us know! All you need is plenty of water, a good pair of water shoes or sandals, and we'll take care of the rest! Knowledgeable TU volunteers will be here to help.
If you have some of your own gear to bring, I'd recommend small spinning rods with "snapper poppers" or small lures. Because they are so aggressive, snappers are also a great fish to learn how to catch on a fly rod. I'd recommend trying out a 5 wt with wooly buggers! We'll have both fly and spin rods as well as plenty of gear for you to borrow.
