Eklutna River Plants for Salmon Community Planting Day

Plants for Salmon is back - this time on the Lower Eklutna River!

Join us on Saturday, May 30th, from 10 am to 1 pm for a hands-on, family-friendly event to help restore the Eklutna River.

 Roll up your sleeves and dig in—we’ll be planting native trees, bushes, and flowers to help keep our waterways healthy and salmon thriving. These plants will provide shelter, shade, and nutrients for wild salmon, stabilize streambanks, and improve overall riparian and stream health.

 Enjoy a day of fun and learning with live fish tanks & salmon science activities, free lunch for all volunteers, interactive kids' activities, and local watershed experts sharing knowledge.

 We’ll provide all the materials and have some gloves, but bring sturdy shoes and a trowel if you have one!

This event is a massive community collaboration—hosted by the Native Village of Eklutna and the Mat-Su Salmon Habitat Partnership and supported by Alaska Department of Fish and Game, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Trout Unlimited, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Susitna River Coalition, Knik Tribe, and The Alaska Center.

Directions: From the Glenn Hwy, take the Eklutna Exit and turn NW towards the Native Village of Eklutna. Turn left onto Eklutna Village Road across from the Eklutna Community Clinic. Drive about half a mile where parking will be marked.
