Dry Creek Phase 3 Volunteer Planting
This is the 3rd phase of restoration work on Dry Creek, a tributary to the East Gallatin, North of Belgrade. Last year, TU worked with a local contractor to reshape 14 large eroding streambanks. This spring, we will install native plants and grass seed on the exposed banks. TU is partnering with MCC and volunteers to plant willow livestakes and potted plants on the restored banks. Once the 3rd phase of Dry Creek restoration is completed, TU will have removed over 500 tons of annual fine sediment inputs and restored/re-connected over ten miles of habitat on this key spawning tributary to the East Gallatin River over the last seven years. Here is a link to an Instagram post with a video and description of the project: Project video. On Saturday, April 26th, from 10 am - 3 pm, we will be planting native vegetation along Dry Creek. If you would like to participate in this event, please email connor.parrish@tu.org to sign up and for the location for the planting!
