Join us at Emanuel Lutheran in Pleasantville for our monthly chapter gatherings!

These meetings are free and open to all whether you're a member or not! - Feel free to bring friends, colleagues, and family members.

These events are a great opportunity to meet fellow anglers and conservationists, as well as learn a thing or two about local fishing opportunities and exciting projects we're working on!

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with refreshments, networking and fishing advice. The presentations typically start at around 7:15 p.m. following brief remarks and updates from the chapter. This month's speaker is Bob Romano who will share about the flies and fishing of the Rangeley area of Maine.

Bob Romano and his wife, Trish, have owned a cabin in western Maine’s Rangeley Lakes Region for nearly forty years. Sometimes referred to as "The Land of Fishing Legends," it is a region of the country where moose outnumber the residents and native brook trout share the rivers with landlocked salmon.

Bob’s programs are as entertaining as they are informative. He’ll cover where and when to fish, what flies to cast, and a few proven techniques. With over 100 photos in each program, Bob will describe how western Maine remains a region within driving distance where a sixteen-inch native brook trout is not unusual and an angler can still cast a fly, with only moose, beaver, and otter for company.

Bob’s most recent book, RETURN TO RANGELEY, was released in January 2025. Published in 2023, RIVER FLOWERS, is his collection of short stories about wild fish, the places they’re found, and the people who seek them out. Both books will be available for sale at the program.

His essays and short stories have appeared in various anthologies, including Christmas in the Wild, Fresh Fiction for Fresh Water Fishing, and Wildbranch: An Anthology of Nature, Environmental, and Place-Based Writing.

Bob’s articles have also appeared in The Drake and Fly Culture Magazines. He is a frequent contributor to Midcurrent, the online fly-fishing magazine as well as Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Magazine and The Journal, a literary magazine serving eastern Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey. He also writes articles for the Bangor Daily News and a monthly column for Northwoods Sporting Journal while doing his best to keep up with his blog http://forgottentrout.wordpress.com

Bob will have his latest book, Return to Rangeley, as well as River Flowers available for purchase.
