Trout Unlimited's Priority Waters program has actualized conservation goals and initiatives on wild trout & salmon rivers across the Northeast. Our efforts on Connecticut Priority Waters like the Farmington and Housatonic have been marked with great strides in local partnership, watershed research & reconnection, and community outreach for the last several years. Exciting times lay ahead for both of those watersheds, while we continue to move our efforts East across the state and into potential collaborative efforts around Sea Run Brook Trout on rivers like the Pawcatuck & South Shore Mystic! Some established CT Priority Waters remain on the horizon for staff programs and would greatly benefit from increased TU citizen science participation such as the Pine Brook & Shetucket.
Were you able to participate in our 2024 Statewide Spawning Survey with CT DEEP? We covered a ton of ground and hope to continue those efforts in 2025.
At the same time, incredible community-driven efforts are happening at TU chapters across the State of Connecticut both in and around Priority Waters. Localized momentum for Home Waters like the Mill River and Norwalk River will be highlighted by Mianus TU Chapter President Gerald Berrafati.
TU's Connecticut Project Manager, Jon Vander Werff, as well as Tracy Brown and Jesse Vadala will lead the discussion and leave plenty of time for questions.
We start at 6:30pm EST on Zoom and will upload the video to TU's National YouTube page for further distribution to those who could not attend.
