Climate change is not waiting for us in some distant day. It’s here, now. For trout and salmon, the problem is clear enough at the most basic level – they rely on cold, clean water in a world that is rapidly warming. Persistent drought, massive wildfires, catastrophic flooding — our newsfeeds are filled with threats to our world, to our communities and to these fish that are knitted into the fabric of so many of our lives. But at TU, we’re optimists. We have reason for hope. We know how to help trout and salmon, and our communities, weather climate change and take action to reduce it. We believe we can help. In fact, we already are.
For more than a decade, Trout Unlimited’s Climate Change Workgroup of the National Leadership Council has been advocating for learning and action on issues of climate resiliency and mitigation among our members and supporters. In this important conversation, join the workgroup members and partners from Citizen’s Climate Lobby Portland ME Chapter to hear the science behind the threat to trout and salmon, the steps being taken now and the action needed to secure a safer climate future for us all. You’ll also walk away with tools and tactics like the EN-ROADS Climate Simulator to reduce your carbon footprint, actively advocate for change and more. Session is free, open to the public and kids and families are welcome to take part.
