Bailey Mountain Fish and Game Club

New York

Home Waters Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding our June 12th gathering at the Bailey Mountain Fish and Game Club, 531 Snyders Lake Road, Wynantskill 12198
Our guest speaker will be Samantha Carey, an Aquatic Biologist with the Region 4 Bureau of Fisheries at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) who has always had a passion for water, fish, and the outdoors, and that led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture from SUNY Cobleskill in 2016, followed by a Master of Science in Lake Management from SUNY Oneonta in 2020.
Over the years, she has had the chance to work in some amazing places—from Tennessee to Illinois—before making her way back to New York. She spent six great years at SUNY Cobleskill as a fisheries technician, where she taught hands-on field labs for all the fisheries courses. Now with the NYSDEC, she serves as the cold water and warm water aquatic biologist for Rensselaer and Columbia counties, and also manages Otsego Lake.
Outside of work, she loves fishing, hunting, hiking with her dog Hank, and foraging for mushrooms and edible plants!
She will give you a peek into her day-to-day life as an aquatic biologist and then we will take a dive into Otsego Lake fisheries management!
If you are planning to attend, please rsvp as we would like to get an accurate headcount for pizza and refreshments to make sure we have enough for everyone. As a reminder, we do ask for a $5.00 per slice donation to help defray costs.
