Canon City High School Fly Fishing Tournament (Team and Sponsor Registration)
The Southern Colorado Greenback Chapter of Trout Unlimited presents the Cañon City High School Fly Fishing Tournament on October 11, 2025, in Cañon City, CO, supported by the Leo Gomolchak Grant from Colorado Trout Unlimited and our title sponsor Royal Gorge Anglers. High school teams (grades 9–12) and approved middle school teams compete on the Arkansas River in a 4.5-hour catch-and-release fly fishing event across two sessions (9:30 AM–Noon, 1:30–4:00 PM). Teams of two vie for awards like Largest Fish and Total Length while learning conservation.
Check-in is 7:15–7:50 AM at the Cañon City Recreation District, followed by volunteer training, presentations, a safety briefing, and blind beat draw. Fishing occurs across 10–15 beats with adult supervision. A stream cleanup challenge at lunch (Noon–1:00 PM) promotes conservation. The event ends with awards and pizza (4:30–5:00 PM).
Registration is $25 per team, due by September 15, 2025, via jonathan.haas@haastechwriting.com. Anglers 16+ need a Colorado fishing license (cpw.state.co.us). Lunch and pizza provided. Join us to fish, learn, and protect our rivers!
