Canandaigua Lake TU April 2022 Monthly Meeting - In Person at American Legion

Join us at the Canandaigua American Legion as we hold our first In Person meeting in over two years. Our old friend Kirk Klingensmith from the Twin Tiers Five Rivers FFI chapter in Corning will give a presentation on 'Triggering - Strategies for Fly Fishing Success'. 

We ask that all in person attendees be Fully Vaccinated for Covid-19. Masks are optional at this time.

Kirk’s presentation encourages the fly fisher to consider what possesses a fish to put something in their mouth. Much of the time, we think about “triggers” which signal food to a fish. In some situations, curiosity, instinct, or territorialism triggers a grab. Also important are avoiding triggers which signal danger. Triggers are sensed by the fish’s sight, hearing, and lateral lines. Fly fishing success often depends on how well flies, equipment and tactics connect with a triggering response. Kirk’s talk hopes to share ideas to improve your success regardless of where you are on this lifelong learning journey.

Kirk has been fly-fishing for 52 years. He has enjoyed fly fishing for a variety of species from trout to bass to saltwater and has been blessed to fish in a number of countries. Kirk has been teaching fly tying, casting, and fly fishing since his teenage years. He served on the Boy Scout Jamboree Fishing Staff. Kirk has contributed to three fly fishing books. He has presented to numerous TU and FFi chapters. Kirk is a life member of FFi and TU (member Leon Chandler TU). He has served as President of Twin Tiers Five Rivers club Fly Fishers International since 2008.
