Join Trout Unlimited volunteers from across the region to plant more than 200 trees along Buck Creek - an area hit hard during the historic flooding from Hurricane Helene. Trees will also be available for free for families and community members to take home to restore their own property.
We will be planting native trees along the river to help restore the damaged streambank, stabilize the river and provide the root structure needed to prevent further erosion and damage during future rain and flood events. Beyond that, we'll be working together as a community to heal from this tragic event which took far too many lives and caused untold damage.
All tools, gloves and supplies will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking boots, wear bug spray and sunscreen and bring a reusable water bottle for hydration - water stations will be provided.
This planting event and tree distribution is made possible by partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and International Paper.
