This event is a fundraiser for Boulder Flycasters’ youth science education programs. Funds raised will support Trout Unlimited Trout-in-the-Classroom programs within Boulder County schools, as well as fund scholarships to the annual Colorado Trout Unlimited Youth Summer Camp. Our sponsors are providing numerous door prizes. Your Entry Ticket includes you in the door prize drawings. There will also be a separate grand prize drawing. Twisted Pine Brewing is easily reached and located a few blocks west of the intersection of Foothills Parkway and Pearl Street. There is ample free parking. We added an optional combination Event AND Food ticket this year. Twisted Pine has limited food service capability. So we are adding a Taco Bar buffet exclusively for our event.
Ron will cover overall strategies for catching trout, equipment, fly patterns, seasonal timing for fishing mountain lakes and, of course, specific lakes to fish. He will focus on lakes in the Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness areas.
Ron Belak is an award-winning writer and photographer from Evergreen, Colorado. He has fished the Colorado backcountry as an adult for over 45 years. In that time, he has fished about 600 different high lakes and small reservoirs in Colorado, as well as others in Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta and Argentina. Ron approaches fly fishing from an analytical perspective, trying to discover the scientific basis for why certain techniques and strategies work. Ron has published about 90 articles on fly fishing, mainly in Colorado Outdoors magazine. He is also the author of two books: “Fly Fishing Colorado’s Backcountry” and “The Fishing Guide to 800 High Lakes in Colorado.” Ron’s books are available through a link on his website www.ronbelak.com and in select fly shops in the Denver area.
