Ever wondered what a trout spawning area (commonly referred to as a 'redd') would look like on your local water? We are seeking volunteers to help contribute to TU's ongoing research and monitoring of rivers like the Battenkill and many others throughout the region. Join our staff and experienced volunteers as we begin the morning with a rundown of the TU Redd Survey App and how we'll be using it to document what we find. Once everyone is up-to-speed on redd identification and using the mobile application, we will break off into groups to survey different stretches of the Battenkill and its tributaries for spawning activity!
The training will begin at 9am or (8:45 for coffee & donuts!). Please be sure to come prepared to wade, have the app loaded on your mobile phone (or printed data sheet), and wear something fluorescent to keep yourself visible to people driving or hunting. If you're interested in floating a stretch of the river, please feel free to bring a drift-boat, canoe, or kayak!
Please reach out to Jacob.Fetterman@tu.org with any questions leading up to the event.
