There's nothing better than joining friends and neighbors to take care of a river we all love!
Join TU's Battenkill Home Rivers Initiative on Saturday, April 23 at 9:30am for one of two tree planting events taking place on this historic and important coldwater river. (We'll have a second planting in the afternoon elsewhere on the river.)
We'll be working in Salem, NY at the site of a significant stream restoration project in 2021 that stabilized a 200' long, 7' tall eroding bank, we'll be planting trees to help develop a strong root structure to prevent future erosion, filter stormwater and to develop the shade and canopy the Battenkill needs to stay a cool, safe home for trout and other species.
TU tree plantings are great ways to engage the entire family - so bring out your kids and grandkids and help teach them the importance of working together as a community to care for and recover our rivers and streams.
We'll have some tools available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and shovels.
*Note: Parking location may change depending on field and road conditions. You will be contacted the day before the planting with more information on where to park.
