Battenkill River Cleanup w/ Orvis & Mount Holly!
Join community volunteers from New York & Vermont for our annual Battenkill Trash Cleanup! We all love wading the banks of this legendary river and hate to see it tainted by errant trash and other pollutants. All are welcome to participate in this family-friendly event!
This year, we are partnering with our friends from Orvis and Mount Holly Beer to put together another fun-filled day of making sure the Battenkill remains one of New York and Vermont's cornerstones for angling. Beyond celebrating the river and the many conservation partnerships, we look forward to celebrating the unique partnership between Mount Holly Beer, Orvis, and the Southwestern Vermont Chapter of TU - wherein Mount Holly Beer has been donating 5% of their proceeds from specially brewed batches of beer to local coldwater conservation efforts.
We will meet up at the Orvis Flagship Store at 9am, with a planned clean-up start time of 9:30am.
There will be one dumpster location at the Arlington Rec Park, provided by our partners at Casella Waste Services. We ask that all volunteers reconvene at the Rec Park at 1pm to dump their collected trash bag(s) and get a group photo, prior to a picnic celebration back at the Flagship Store from 2-4pm.
We will provide trash bags, but folks should come with their own gloves and bright/neon clothing. All trash should be brought by volunteers to one of the dumpster locations or coordinate with another volunteer/TU staff member for the pickup of trash bag(s) left at your selected clean-up location.
Additional support for this great event comes from our friends of the Adirondack, Clearwater, and Southwestern Vermont TU Volunteer Chapters.
If you're unable to join us but would like to help support local TU conservation events of this nature, please consider a small donation to the efforts of Trout Unlimited's Northeast Coldwater Habitat Team.
