There's nothing better than joining friends and neighbors to take care of a river we all love!
Join TU's Battenkill Home Rivers Initiative on Saturday, April 23 at 1pm for the second session of two tree planting events taking place on this historic and important coldwater river. (We are also hosting a Battenkill Tree Planting in Salem, NY at 9:30AM for those who might prefer an AM start time.)
We'll be working in Shushan, NY to continue previous efforts to protect and improve habitat for native Brook Trout. We'll be planting trees along Juniper Swamp Brook to help filter storm water, create safe spaces for fish to hide from predators, and improve the overall condition of a unique tributary connected to the Battenkill.
TU tree plantings are great ways to engage the entire family - so bring out your kids and grandkids and help teach them the importance of working together as a community to care for and recover our rivers and streams.
We'll have some tools available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and shovels.
*Note: Parking is limited at this site, so we may be forced to cap attendance at this afternoon tree planting.
