Aldo Leopold Kid's Fishing Derby at Lake Roberts

The Aldo Leopold Kid's Fishing Derby at Lake Roberts is scheduled for June 4th, 2022. Volunteers are needed to help with the Gila/Rio Grande Chapter and the Mesilla Valley Fly Fishers booth where we help the kids learn to cast with our fly-castig game and learn about native Gila Trout., and help the USFS hand out bait and gear ad doing various other jobs that are necessary to run the event. We are expecting a great turnout ad all of the participating agencies and groups are understaffed so your help will be greatly appreciated. The USFWS will be stocking some very large, retired brood stock Gila Trout, so volunteers can take the opportunity to fish after the event ends at 1:00 PM. Bring a float tube and you'll have a chance to hook up to an incredible fish.
