5RTU Women - Pre-Season Skills Refresher at the San Juan Angler

As we look forward to Spring fishing, let’s brush up on some of our basic skills.  

We will have two stations:

1) Rigging for different techniques, leader/tippet selection, and knots refresher; 

2) How to select successful flies based on multiple factors. Includes matching your flies to bugs seined earlier in the day from the Animas River, and a brief entomology discussion. 

Participants will start at one station and switch half way through.  We will end with a quick summary of the evening and brief Q&A.

WHAT TO BRING? 

Bring your fly box if you’d like to go through it with San Juan Angler staff/guides.  You can also bring tippet, tippet rings, swivels, and some of your own flies if you’d want to actually build a rig. Some rigging kits will be available for purchase, as well as “grab and go”  fly pucks designed for different rivers.
